WHO WE ARE
The Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP) is a pan African network of organizations operating at grassroots, national and regional levels, with a commitment to promoting and strengthening the social contract between states and citizens. To achieve this, the APSP promotes active engagement of National Platforms in the shaping of Social Protection policies, programs, and practices in Africa. APSP has established 27 platforms to engage at the national level.
We are a Pan Africa NGO that works with governments, private sector, development agencies, research institutions and grassroots communities in Africa by designing, testing and delivering appropriate poverty alleviation models to the poor and underserved communities through social protection programs.
We create partnerships with civil society & other organizations to engage with Government & International Development Agencies (IDAs) to develop & Implement innovative social protection strategies & programmes that make a difference in poor and vulnerable households in Africa.
We exist to strengthen civil society engagements with state and non state actors for effective service delivery in Social Protection.

To create partnerships with Civil Society and other organizations to engage with the Governments and International Development Agencies (IDAs) to develop and implement innovative Social Protection strategies and programmes that make a difference in people’s lives in Africa.
Our Vision
An African continent free from poverty and vulnerability. The APSP’s main objective is to support the development of effective national social protection policies and programmes and thereby contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and the goals of the African Union Social Policy Framework (SPF).

Our Approach
- Community sensitization
- Building capacity of community social monitors.
- Conduct social audits to inform positive changes in social protection programs.
- High level legal and policy advocacy with members of Parliament, senators, Cabinet Secretaries/Ministers.

Our success
Supported the establishment of 27 platforms in Africa, comprising of over 135 Civil Society Organizations. This is to promote national-level engagement of social protection with communities and governments
APSP has enhanced awareness of social protection among communities of practice in social protection.
Enhanced understanding of social protection programs in the continent.
Enhanced participation in the policy and legal processes of social protection programs on the continent. The 27 APSP platforms lead or are involved in the development of social protection policies and legislations.
Monitoring and evaluation of social protection programs through social accountability for enhanced quality service delivery.
